Fathers coming out on top in battles over custody

Fathers are gradually gaining more ground on mothers in child custody cases, with some being awarded sole custody of children following a divorce or break up. The trend is proof that men are no longer automatic losers in child custody cases, making it all the more important that males approach such custody battles seriously.

And women also need to understand that they are no longer the automatic favorites in child custody cases. A recent celebrity example is the child custody case between R&B singer Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster. The couple had two children, now ages 3 and 4, after marrying in 2007. Earlier this year, Usher was awarded sole custody of the children.

Bristol Palin's ex plans to seek full custody of their son

After seeing the behavior of his ex-fiancé, Bristol Palin, and -- perhaps more importantly -- the behavior of their son, Tripp, Levi Johnston has come out with news that he plans to seek sole custody of their son.

Johnston decided to make the push for full custody after seeing the Lifetime reality show, "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp," in which the 3-year-old boy is allegedly seen displaying crude language and behavior.

The media's role in the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorce

Five years ago, Tom Cruise professed his love for Katie Holmes by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey's talk-show couch. Since then, the enthusiasm the couple had for each other appears to have dwindled as Holmes filed for divorce on June 28 and the pair agreed to terms of a settlement just two weeks later.

While the terms of their divorce settlement are strictly confidential, there has been speculation that Cruise's strong affiliation with the Church of Scientology had something to do with the spilt. Many are also saying that an ironclad prenuptial agreement spelled out most of the terms of the divorce settlement.

Separation outlasts marriage for Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has asked the court to speed up her divorce from New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries. Last week, Kardashian's attorney told the judge presiding over the case that her client would like to move forward with the divorce but Humphries is dragging his feet.

Humphries has made it clear that he would rather pursue an annulment. The difference between a divorce and an annulment is that a divorce ends the marriage while an annulment establishes that the marriage never existed in the first place. An annulment also requires proof that the marriage was entered into based on fraud.

Kardashian and Humphries already butting heads in divorce

In December, after only 72 days of marriage, reality TV star Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries. The announcement of the couple's split created just as big of a media firestorm as their made-for-TV nuptials.

But if Humphries gets what is reportedly asking for, the reality couple's divorce could attract just as much attention from the media. According to a source, Humphries and his attorney have asked that the divorce trial also be televised. The source said that they want to "expose the M.O. of reality TV" by showing that the marriage was a fraud.

Seal and Heidi Klum announce split after 7-year marriage

This week it was reported that one of the most celebrated couples in Tinseltown is calling it quits after seven years of marriage. British musician Seal and German supermodel Heidi Klum announced their separation on Sunday, after what the couple called "much soul-searching."

Many people were surprised to hear the news as the couple has been known for showing public displays of affection and raving about each other in interviews.

However, USA Today reported that couples who are overly affectionate in public are sometimes just trying to prove to "themselves [and] the rest of the world that everything is fine."

Are Kim Kardashian and husband already headed for divorce?

Celebrity Kim Kardashian married New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries just over two months ago, but sources are already saying that divorce proceedings could be on the way.

The couple married in a fairy tale-style wedding in August that was publicized on national television earlier this month. However, according to sources close to the couple, a happy ending may not be in order for the princess of reality TV and her NBA prince.
